Mike Assad is running for Congress in New Jersey’s second congressional district.
Assad was born on July 4, 1987, in Galloway Township. He is a lifelong resident of Absecon and attended Absecon Public Schools, Holy Spirit High School, and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. A Roman Catholic, Assad was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Pleasantville, now part of St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Northfield.
Assad serves as a member of the Absecon Board of Education, having been elected in April 2006 and re-elected in April 2009. As a member of the school board, he won acclaim from The Press of Atlantic City for his efforts to make district operations more accountable to the public. In 2009, Atlantic City Weekly Magazine named Assad one of their “Top 40 Under 40.”
